 I'm a Sleep Specialist. Here are 5 things I never do before going to bed.


Sleeping appears to be something that should come naturally to us. However, getting those quality ZZZs is far too often difficult.


Setting a few bedtime rules may help if you find yourself tossing and turning in bed or falling asleep only to wake up a few hours later, 

according to Dr. Craig Canapari, pulmonologist and director of the Yale Pediatric Sleep Center.


For him, having a consistent bedtime that allows enough time to get a full night's sleep — plus a solid amount of buffer time to doze off — is 

essential. "It's completely normal to fall asleep for 30 minutes or more," Canapari says. "So you're a real person."
